Growth Expansion Index (v1)
The Growth Expansion Index (GXI) is a weekly, 0–100 signal that summarizes Growth and pressure
across social/video/mirror/marketplace surfaces. It is designed for release planning, underwriting review,
completion bond evaluation, lender diligence, and board-safe reporting.
What this index measures
- Velocity: how fast signals accumulate early (72h pressure).
- Burst behavior: how concentrated activity is (release-window spike risk).
- Repeat offender share: systemic repost networks vs one-off noise.
- Surface concentration: whether risk is dominated by a single surface (targetable) or distributed.
What this index does not do
- No legal conclusions.
- No enforcement or takedown activity.
- No claim of ownership or infringement determination.
Official v1 formula
Each component is normalized to a 0–100 subscore; the index is a weighted sum:
EEXI_v1 = 0.35 * VelocityScore
+ 0.25 * BurstScore
+ 0.25 * RepeatOffenderScore
+ 0.15 * ConcentrationScore
Component definitions (v1):
- VelocityScore: median signals-per-title in first 72h, normalized using rolling 12-week p10–p90.
- BurstScore: % of last-24h signals within last-72h (higher = sharper spike).
- RepeatOffenderScore: % of signals tied to repeat fingerprints/channels seen across multiple titles/requests.
- ConcentrationScore: top-surface share % (higher = one-surface dominance; useful for targeted intervention).
Normalization rule: each raw metric is converted to 0–100 using robust bounds
(rolling percentiles) to prevent single weeks from exploding the scale.
How to interpret the 0–100 scale
0–24
Low
Background growth pressure. Monitor.
25–49
Moderate
Verify clusters, watch surfaces, prep escalation lanes.
50–74
High
Systemic signals likely. Tighten release-window readiness.
75–100
Critical
Release-window threat posture. Brief stakeholders.
Why v1 is “public-safe” and v2 becomes portfolio-grade
- v1 = weekly pressure signal intended for public research publishing.
- v2 = category normalization (film vs TV vs music vs games) + benchmark deltas once multiple catalogs onboard.
- Underwriting packets include additional context: title-level posture, offenders, clustering, and release-window triggers.
